Creating a sustainable environment for our people and planet, Lux for Sprouts takes a ‘green’ initiative. Forward thinking steps including a new 4100 square foot green retail space at 1735 Corydon Avenue, a wide selection of environmentally friendly products including organic clothing options, non-toxic toys, furniture and baby essentials, as well as sustainable development principles that are incorporated into everyday operations, in an effort to lighten our environmental footprint.

Our new store location at 1735 Corydon Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba, boasts over 4100 square feet of beautiful, green retail space, and is believed to be the first green retail lease signed in Manitoba. We are making headway by minimizing the building’s impact on the environment: our undergoing renovations have utilized environmentally friendly (recycled wood fibre) flooring, low VOC recycled latex paint, energy-efficient light fixtures and office equipment,

and cleaning supplies like soap that is free from phosphorous; our everyday operations include steps to reduce waste by making use of recycled shopping bags and tissue, issuing email receipts as opposed to paper receipts, reusing packaging for online shipments from www.luxforsprouts.com (your Phil and Ted’s buggy might just come to you in a Bugaboo box!) and using drop shipping services. We are especially excited to offer this to our customers because this option reduces transportation fossil fuel consumption by having items direct shipped to end consumers. We know that all of these little steps add up and do make a difference and hopefully will encourage others to take positive steps in the direction to protect our planet!

Lux for Sprouts green initiative stems from our original vision to bring our customers environmentally friendly, safe, recycled, green, sustainable and fair trade products to best product their most precious cargo. We continue to provide babies and their parent’s with alternative products that are not easily found elsewhere, while staying true to style, form and function!

We present the top apparel collections from designers around the world and incorporate organic options as well as representing lines that follow responsible manufacturing and business processes (i.e. Quiksilver, Roxy, Parade Organics, Speesees, No Added Sugar etc). Our toy selection is paramount with price points for every budget and a central focus on being safe and non-toxic! Many of our toys are made from natural rubber (think Vulli-Sophie the Giraffe) and real woods like beach, birch and maple (think Haba, Melissa and Doug, Vilac and Plan Toys) that are finished with water-based, non-toxic paints. Our furniture line offers the most stylish pieces that are showcased in celebrities nurseries but more importantly share important concepts like bpa, pvc, lead free materials that are non-toxic and low-voc (think Bloom, Oeuf, Argington and Nurseryworks).

Our baby gear brings organic options (think Ergo, Aden & Anais, Dwell Studio), reusable choices (think cloth diapering from Fuzzi Bunz,), and baby essentials including breast pumps, baby bottles and soothers that are free of harmful chemicals (think Green to Grow, Medela, Klean Kanteen, Skip Hop, and Nattursutten). Even our strollers encompass environmentally friendly concepts like convertible features that ‘grow with the child’ to help sustain and lengthen the product lifecycle and ultimately reduce waste (think double your buggy from Phil and Ted’s and Valco). Everywhere at Lux for Sprouts, there is a love for children and the Environment!
